Poziv na predavanje “The Genetic Code: origin, functional limits, and biotechnology” prof. Lluisa Ribas de Pouplane

Hrvatsko društvo za biokemiju i molekularnu biologiju i Kemijski odsjek Prirodoslovno-matematičkog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu organiziraju zajednički znanstveni kolokvij na kojem će profesor Lluis Ribas de Pouplana (Institute for Research in Biomedicine IRB Barcelona, Španjolska) održati predavanje pod naslovom “The Genetic Code: origin, functional limits, and biotechnology”.

Predavanje će se održati u srijedu 17. svibnja u 14:15 sati u predavaonici P1 (prizemlje zgrade Kemijskog odsjeka PMF-a, Horvatovac 102a).

Riječi autora o predavanju:

“The Genetic Code emerged over three billion years ago, prior to the appearance of the last common ancestor of all living species. Francis Crick was the first to remark on its ‘frozen’ condition, referring to the fact that, despite its ancient origin, the code is mostly immutable. Our laboratory is interested in the mechanisms that drove the early evolution of the Code, and also on the factors that limit its expansion beyond the twenty universal amino acids. These factors, and the biotechnological applications that can be derived from their study, will be discussed during the talk.“
