The Mediterranean Institute for Life Sciences (MedILS), University of Split, is organizing a five-day international workshop entitled “School of Science Communication”, which will take place from 2 to 6 November 2026 in Split, Croatia.

The workshop is organized as part of “Science Comes to Town Week at MedILS UNIST”, within the framework of the EU-funded project Science Comes to Town 2026.

The programme is intended for master’s students, PhD students, and early-career postdoctoral researchers who wish to improve their science communication skills, develop more effective ways of presenting research findings, and encourage active dialogue between science and society.

The workshop follows an interactive learning approach, with less than 15% of the programme dedicated to traditional lectures, while the remainder consists of hands-on activities, group exercises, discussions, and reflection. Special emphasis is placed on adapting science communication to different target audiences, developing critical thinking, promoting scientific literacy, and fostering responsibility and integrity in scientific research.

The workshop will be led by Bojan Markičević, an experienced educator and science communication expert with extensive international experience in STEM education, scientific literacy, and the development of innovative teaching methods.

Applications can be submitted via the online registration form. Participants will be selected based on their motivation letters and on a first-come, first-served basis.
