Kuzman Consulting is organizing a workshop titled “Genomics in Practice”, which will take place from 10 to 14 November 2025 at the Biocenter.
The workshop is intended for beginners who wish to learn how to analyze genomic data.
The workshop will cover a typical workflow for genomic data analysis using the example of differential gene expression analysis, including:
a short introduction to NGS and NGS data
searching and retrieving data from public databases
sequence analysis using the Galaxy platform: quality control, data preparation, mapping, and processing of mapping results
introduction to R and tidyverse: data loading and manipulation (cleaning, reformatting)
gene expression analysis using the DESeq2 package
basic statistical analyses in R (distributions, simple tests, error calculation)
data visualization in R (basic graph types with a focus on publication-quality graphics)
Each participant will, with the assistance of instructors, go through the entire process — from raw data to results ready for presentation. Through hands-on exercises, participants will learn how to identify and correct data issues, use R for analysis and visualization, and apply modern tools for gene expression analysis.
The workshop will be led by bioinformaticians with extensive experience in research and industry: Dr. Maja Kuzman, Dunja Glavaš, and Eva Pavlinek.
Participation fee: 400 EUR (includes coffee breaks and lunch).
Registration deadline: 3 November 2025. The number of participants is limited.
