The Croatian Natural History Society (HPD) invites members of the academic and professional community to the special symposium “140 Years of Science Communication and Popularisation in Croatia”, which will be held on 15 May 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in the Čačković Lecture Hall at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine, Šalata 3, Zagreb.
The symposium is organised to mark 140 years of HPD’s activities, celebrating one of Croatia’s most important scientific organisations. The programme will bring together distinguished scientists from various fields of natural sciences, who will present current topics in biology, biochemistry, genetics, geography and chemistry through a series of lectures.
As part of the programme, the lecture “The Rise and Positioning of Biochemistry in Croatia” will be delivered by Assist. Prof. Morana Dulić, PhD, President of the Croatian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (HDBMB).
The symposium programme also includes lectures on the genetics of the Green Revolution, satellite DNA, the beginnings of geography teaching at the University of Zagreb, and mechanochemical synthesis and its applications in Croatia and worldwide.
We invite HDBMB members and all interested participants to join this event dedicated to science communication, the popularisation of science and the rich tradition of Croatian natural history societies.
