The Croatian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (HDBMB) once again awards the Annual Award for Young Scientists for high-quality and internationally recognized scientific work in the field of molecular life sciences.
Accordingly, at its meeting held on 15 January 2026, the Executive Board of HDBMB adopted the decision to announce the Call for the Annual Award for Young Scientists for 2025.
The call is open from 27 January 2026 until 1 March 2026 (midnight).
Candidates for the Award are nominated by HDBMB members. Both nominators and candidates must be active members of HDBMB with a regularly paid membership fee.
The Annual Award for Young Scientists is granted for the best scientific publication and scientific activity during the year for which the Award is given.
Eligible candidates include PhD students or young scientists who are no more than five years post-PhD in the year for which the Award is granted (i.e. having obtained their PhD degree in 2021 or later). Exceptionally, the five-year period after obtaining the PhD may be extended in cases of justified career breaks, provided that appropriate documentation is submitted.
The application must include a well-justified proposal and accompanying documentation.
Applications for the Annual Award for Young Scientists must include the candidate’s curriculum vitae, an electronic copy of the publication submitted for the Award, and a clearly described statement of the candidate’s contribution to the work.

The Award is presented at the HDBMB General Assembly meeting.
