The 27th IUBMB–FASBMB–SASBMB Congress 2027 will be held from 19 to 23 September 2027 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in Cape Town, South Africa.
The congress will take place under the theme “Biochemistry & Molecular Biology for a Sustainable Future” and will bring together researchers, students, educators and industry partners from around the world. The scientific programme will explore how molecular life sciences can contribute to addressing major global challenges.
The 2027 congress is also highlighted as the first IUBMB Congress to be held in Africa. Confirmed speakers include Emmanuelle Charpentier, Nobel Laureate; Kelly Chibale, Founder and Director of the H3D Drug Discovery & Development Centre at the University of Cape Town; and Julie Makani, an international leader in sickle cell disease research.
