The HDBMB Young Scientists’ Section is once again organizing a lecture as part of the FEBS JS Monthly Talk Series!
This time, the lecture will be delivered by Dr. Marko Košiček from the Ruđer Bošković Institute, titled: “Synapses and Soundbites: How a Neuroscientist Became a Science Communicator“.
Marko Košiček is the Science Outreach Coordinator at the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Zagreb, where he organizes public engagement initiatives and collaborates with schools, NGOs, and industry partners. Trained as a chemist, he spent a decade studying the molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease before turning his focus to science communication.
His passion for engaging with the public led him to win both the Croatian and international FameLab competitions, co-host the popular science TV show The Third Element, and play a key role in organizing major outreach events such as the Festival of Science, Science Picnic, and Researchers’ Night. In 2014, he received the National Award for the Promotion and Popularization of Natural Sciences. From 2018 to mid-2020, he served as Chief Advisor at the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia.
